3D Modeling and Re-Engineering

3D modeling of a ship is its mathematical, wire frame representation through specialized 3d modeling softwares while re engineering is the redesign of assembly fits. 3D modeling can also be presented as a 2D image through the process of 3D rendering which uses the photorealistic effects on a computer to make it possible.

3D Modeling improves the productivity reducing the time and days of required output.

Each designer in a team may have different objectives with complicated design conditions and needs on separate software and hardware platforms. Usually different CAD systems are used by each individual in different departments producing the results as paper drawings. The large bulk of hard copy outputs by a group of people can create nothing but confusion and more confusion. But the usage of advanced 3D modeling tools has brought great progress, proving improvement in its productivity as 3D models are prepared according to the need of designs in each stage. During the whole process it brings in proper design documentation of classification drawings, weight, centre of gravity reports and estimates on steel material, weld joints etc. It cut downs the time as well as days initially that was used to provide the right output.

3D Re engineering understands and uses appropriate analytical techniques on the variation of assembly fits.

Re engineering is said as the redesign of a firm’s procedures usually at the time of developments and changes in the management. All dimensional management devices, modeling and simulation systems are used in the procedure of 3D Re engineering that is used in the production designs. 3D Re engineering understands and uses appropriate analytical techniques on the variation of assembly fits.

Various 3D Re engineering techniques are also used in production programs reducing the repeated works on assembly fits, engineering, planning, tooling and other changes which are often encountered. At the same time the term re engineering of software found by Chikofsky and Cross in 1990 is the modification of software system to correct any error and to add any new feature. The re engineering of a software is usually done after reverse engineering which involves analyzing and discovering the whole system including its technological principles.
